CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)- – Some 25 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Maddela, Quirino recently received livelihood starter toolkits from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The toolkit contains a chef’s knife, a chopping board, three pieces of plastic pail, a weighing scale, and a storage box.
TESDA Administrative Officer Valentina Damil said the recipients are holders of certificates in Produce Organic Concoctions and Extracts, leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II, conducted by the Provincial Training Center – Quirino.
“They are recipients of Special Training for Employment Program (STEP), a community-based specialty training program that addresses the specific skills needs of the communities and promotes employment, particularly through entrepreneurial, self-employment, and service-oriented activities,” Damil added.
TESDA also awarded toolkits to 42 PDLs of Cabarroguis District Jail who were completers of the same training under batches 1 and 2.
Jail Warden Janos F. Taeza said eight of the completers of the said TESDA program were already released and so he advised them to acquire their toolkits at the Tesda Provincial Office.
“This jail unit continues to support PDLs’ engagement in certain ventures that are worthy of their development and opportunities that will give them avenues to improve their living conditions,” Taeza said. (OTB/TCB/PIA Quirino)
