PH Army, Korea commemorate 74th anniversary of the Battle of Yuldong

MANILA, (PIA) — The Philippine Army, in partnership with the Republic of Korea (ROK) Embassy in Manila, held a Wreath-Laying Ceremony on Tuesday, April 22, to commemorate the 74th Anniversary of the Battle of Yuldong. The ceremony took place at the Korean War Memorial Pylon in Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

This event honors the bravery of the 10th, 20th, 19th, 14th, and 2nd Battalion Combat Teams, as well as the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK), who faced Chinese communist and North Korean forces during the Korean War.

Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, led the ceremony and paid tribute to the living veterans and the Filipino soldiers who fought valiantly in unfamiliar territory against overwhelming odds.

Family members and descendants of the soldiers were also present, receiving appreciation from Lt. Gen. Galido for preserving the memory and heroism of their loved ones.

During his remarks, Lt. Gen. Galido emphasized the enduring bond between the Philippines and South Korea, expressing gratitude for more than seven decades of friendship and cooperation.

The event was organized by officials from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office and the PEFTOK Veterans Association Inc., in coordination with the Philippine Army.

It served as a poignant reminder of the shared history and sacrifices of both nations, inspiring future generations to honor their legacy. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
