QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Air Force and the Indonesian National Armed Forces – Indonesian Air Force have airlifted additional Family Food Packs (FFPs) to isolated areas in the Bicol region hit by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami).
The joint mission, executed on Nov. 4, was part of the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations for the affected communities, the PAF said.
PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said the FFPs were airlifted to the remote islands of Calaguas in Camarines Norte and Butawanan in Camarines Sur.
“This mission delivered essential food supplies to communities affected by the onslaught of STS Kristine. Additionally, a PAF C-130 aircraft transported further essential supplies to Naga Airport, which serves as a vital distribution hub for the ongoing relief efforts in affected areas,” she added.
The Indonesian National Armed Forces sent its Mi 17V5 and H-225M helicopters to the Philippines on Oct. 31 to augment the PAF’s HADR efforts in areas affected by the recent calamity.
The arrival and welcoming ceremonies were led by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Agus Widjojo; PAF Chief of Air Staff, MGen Aristotle Gonzalez; PAF Air Installation and Base Development Commander, MGen Pablo Rustria Jr.; and Indonesian Armed Forces Mission Commander, LtCol Adam Hardiman.
The PAF said that the Indonesian helicopters and crew further strengthened its aerial relief capabilities, enabling more efficient delivery of much-needed relief supplies to remote and inaccessible areas.
Col. Castillo said the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations show the strong partnership between the Philippines and Indonesia in delivering timely assistance and reflect both nations’ commitment to humanitarian service. (PIA DMD)
