CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) assures its members that they are covered for heat-related illnesses, which are expected with the hotter weather brought on by the summer season.
PhilHealth Acting President and CEO Edwin M. Mercado emphasized that members and their dependents who are admitted to any PhilHealth-accredited health facility due to heat stroke or heat exhaustion are entitled to a benefit package of P12,675.
The state health insurer also provides a benefit package of P18,135 for cases of heat fatigue requiring hospitalization.
Mercado encouraged members to take advantage of PhilHealth’s free Konsulta Package for consultations with accredited healthcare providers, which can serve as an early intervention to prevent more severe conditions.
“We urge our members to be vigilant, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms,” added Mercado.
