CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation has recognized the Cagayan de Oro City Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) for its exemplary practices. They are one of the two LHIOs in Mindanao given this recognition.
“It is really an honor for our office to receive such an award because we make, I think, some very good performance rates in KONSULTA Implementation, in our collection, and in our membership,” said CDO LHIO Chief Marlon Niño Arrabaca during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, February 11.

Moreover, he shared that they bested 16 other local offices for this award.
Arrabaca further said the local office is very active in joining some local government units in the implementation of the KONSULTA Package, most specifically the First Patient Encounter (FPE), where a primary care provider updates the basic health data of an eligible beneficiary to identify their health risks.
However, because the political season has already begun, PhilHealth put this activity on hold.

“That is why LHIO Cagayan de Oro diverted its efforts towards engaging more with the employers, private employers, universities, and other schools here in Cagayan de Oro. In fact, for this month, we will be having our Konsulta Caravan and First Patient Encounter in City Central School, Xavier University, and another public institution, the perennial partner of ours, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology,” Arrabaca said.
One product of these efforts is the accreditation of Carmen Health Center as an Animal Bite Center of PhilHealth.
Per the Membership Data Status Report, CDO LHIO recorded 292,399 members and 236,144 dependents for direct contributors. In the Indirect Contributors category, on the other hand, they recorded 119,832 members and 71,096 dependents. (IJBD/PIA-10)
