BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation- (PhilHealth) continues to strengthen health care access through the Konsulta Service Delivery Caravan, bringing essential health care services closer to communities across the region.
PhilHealth-Cordillera Regional Vice President Dr. Dominga Gadgad said this aims to increase awareness and connect communities with accredited healthcare providers and ensure that more people can access preventive and promotive health services.
“Through the Konsulta Caravan, PRO-CAR [PhilHealth Regional Office-CAR] actively engages communities in all seven provinces, raising awareness and facilitating enrollment in accredited healthcare providers. This accomplishment underscores PRO CAR’s commitment to universal health care ensuring that every Cordilleran benefits from preventive and promotive health services,” Gadgad said.
Gadgad also noted the steady progress in the Konsulta package in the region and the role of accredited providers in improving health care access.
“With more accredited providers ensuring wider access to patient services, increasing member enrollment reflects growing trust in the program, reinforced by benefit payouts that support health care sustainability,” she said.
As of 2024, PhilHealth-CAR recorded a total of 1,773,161 registered members and dependents in the Cordillera, or 95.20 percent of the projected population of 1,862,659.
The office continues to intensify its outreach activities especially in remote areas where access to PhilHealth programs remains a challenge.
“Ito nga po ‘yung ating plan for this year na talagang nag-identify sila ng mga barangays, na talagang ‘yung mga pinakamalayo na mahirap puntahan. Tayo na po ang lalapit sa mga tao at i-miyembro sila at i-inform kung ano po ang programa natin,” said Imelda Villamar, PhilHealth-CAR Field Operations Division chief.
With these efforts, the PhilHealth-CAR moves closer to realizing its mission to improve health care access for all Cordillerans and ensure that even the most underserved communities receive the quality care they deserve. (JDP/DEG-Trisha Reign Batoon, PIA CAR-SLU Intern)
