TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in Eastern Visayas has increased its collection performance rate by 5% from January to June this year.
In his presentation on Friday, August 4, at Hotel Lorenza, this city, Earl Aldwin S. Young, head of the Philhealth Planning Unit said the increase in collection was brought by the voluntary premium contributions of members coming from the government and the private sector.
Among the PhilHealth local offices in the region, PhilHealth Tacloban recorded the highest collection rate at 61.60% followed by Catbalogan City at 58.22%; Catarman with 51.46%; Borongan City with 50.74%; Maasin City with 46.46%; Ormoc City with 40.74%; while Naval, Biliran posted the lowest collection rate at 32.32%.
“With these data, Philhealth expects to achieve close to or even exceed 100% of its collection target rate before the year ends,” Young said.
The target collection for this year is P1.9 billion.
In addition, as of June 30, 2023, PhilHealth has reported a total of 498 accredited health care providers to include hospitals, infirmaries, maternity care facilities, among others.
Out of the 4.8 million projected population in the region, 4.5 million, representing 93%, are already registered at PhilHealth. (MMP/CBA/PIA-8)
