ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has partnered with at least 19 healthcare providers across the province of Romblon to offer the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) package.
The Konsulta program provides comprehensive healthcare benefits aimed at preventing illnesses and managing medical conditions early.
According to Leandro Flores, Chief Social Insurance Officer of PhilHealth Romblon, the agency has collaborated with various laboratories, hospitals, and rural health units (RHUs) to implement the program.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, Flores emphasized the importance of expanding healthcare access across the province.
These Konsulta facilities include Don Modesto Formilleza Sr. Memorial Hospital, Isiah Medical Center, Romblon District Hospital, Romblon Provincial Hospital, San Jose District Hospital, Sibuyan District Hospital, Tablas Island District Hospital, Lab Central Medical Laboratory, Malipayon District Hospital, and RHUs of Alcantara, Banton, Looc, Magdiwang, Odiongan, Doña Juanita Madrigal Chanco Health Center, San Agustin, San Andres, San Fernando and Santa Fe.
Despite these partnerships, Flores noted that the number of PhilHealth members in Romblon registered with Konsulta providers remains low However, he assured that PhilHealth is actively working to encourage more members to enroll in the program.
“[We will conduct] more visits to hospitals in Romblon, and we have already held a series of meetings with the Provincial Health Office, LGU mayors, and our accredited health facilities,” he said.
He acknowledged the challenges of implementing the program in an island province but affirmed that PhilHealth employees are dedicated to making the service accessible to all residents, including those in remote areas.
The Konsulta package covers free consultations, essential laboratory tests, and selected medicines for common health conditions. It is designed to promote preventive care and early disease detection, reducing the need for costly hospital treatments.
Flores encouraged PhilHealth members in Romblon to visit their nearest accredited healthcare provider to register for the Konsulta program and start availing themselves of its benefits. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
