PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) — The PhilHealth MIMAROPA started to shorten the turnaround of payment on claims filed by hospitals to 27 days in 2024 to help improve facilities in the region.
Regional Vice President Atty. Jerry Ibay of the PhilHealth MIMAROPA said it was shortened to 27 days from 42 in 2023.
As of June 2024, the agency had already paid P1.020 billion and P1.74 billion for 2023.
“It’s less than a month because we believe na ‘pag mabilis namin kayo mabayaran mas maganda in order to help your facility,” he said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, September 10.
In Palawan, the recorded turnaround for payment of claims shortened to 30 days from 41 days in 2023. PhilHealth paid P443 million in June 2024, up from P770 million in 2023.
Ibay explained that payment of PhilHealth is not limited to hospitals but also includes rural health units, Tuberculosis Directly-Observed Treatment Short-course (TB-DOTS), barangay health stations, and dialysis clinics. (RG/ PIA MIMAROPA-Palawan)
