CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) MIMAROPA recorded a 528 percent increase in the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama or “KonSulTa” program from 2023 to 2024.
PhilHealth MIMAROPA Regional Vice President Atty. Jerry F. Ibay said that the payments collected for the KonSulTa Program in the region grew from P7,519,704.48 in 2023 to P39,693,015.29 as of September this year, totaling P47,212,719.77.
Of the total amount, PhilHealth has already paid P24,066,098.12 in Occidental Mindoro; P12,135,267.22 in Palawan; P8,880,377.83 in Oriental Mindoro; P1,320,827.00 in Marinduque; and P810,149.60 in Romblon.
Ibay said that this indicates a significant rise in the utilization of the KonSulTa program, which provides access to free consultations and other medical services.
“Ito po yung mga nabayaran namin sa MIMAROPA. I believe that this is a ‘game-changer’. Prior to the KonSulTa, ang binabayaran lang po namin ay yung naoospital. Ngayon ang binabayaran namin ay yung nagpacheck-up na po at saka yung naka-register na sa amin,” Ibay explained.
Meanwhile, Ibay also reminded the public that the KonSulTa package is not just for the head of the household, but also welcomes newborn children to get registered.
“KonSulTa is not just for the head of the family or the wife, pati po yung bata even the newborn child. Pagdating po sa bata yung nanay o yung tatay po yung amin iinterbiyuhin, so ang kailangan lang po namin is yung birth certificate nung bata na narehistro siya, and then we can already give the newborn child a PIN number which is needed for the registration with the Konsulta,” he said.
KonSulTa is PhilHealth’s expanded primary care benefits package which pays for free consultations, health screening and assessment, and any of the 15 laboratory tests and 21 drugs and medicines as needed by the patient and as prescribed by their Konsulta Package Providers of choice.
