ILOILO CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is intensifying efforts to raise awareness in its Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) package in Western Visayas.
As of March 31,2025, there are about 2.3 million or 28.57 percent of the region’s population who are registered to the Konsulta.
“This is one program that we are focusing on because this is prevention,” PhilHealth Public Affairs Office Head Janimhe Jalbuna said.
Of the 2.3 million registrants, only 168,468 have completed their first patient encounter – a basic step involving health screening and vital signs recording.
The number remains a challenge despite the program’s goal to diagnose and prevent illnesses early on.
The Konsulta package includes free consultations, 15 laboratory tests, and access to certain medicines.
Based on PhilHealth records, there are 61 Konsulta Package providers in the region.
PhilHealth officials reiterated their call for more members to register and use Konsulta services to avoid costly treatments and hospitalizations later on.
Moreover, PhilHealth Acting Regional Vice President Lazaro Tabsing emphasized the importance of communication and collaboration with media partners to improve service delivery.
“We need to work closely with the media to bring the right information to the people and help them understand the value of PhilHealth programs,” Tabsing said.
PhilHealth is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year under the theme “Panatag Kami Dito.” (AAL/ED/PIA6)
