ILIGAN CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) honored its partners in this city and Lanao del Norte province through the 4th Gawad Pagkilala: PhilHealth Champions 2024.
This initiative by the Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO)-Iligan, started in 2014 and held every three years, aims to honor PhilHealth Champions in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte for their collaborative efforts that have played a vital role in the successful implementation of Universal Health Care.

Christine Mae Magno, head of the LHIO Iligan, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all the awardees.
“This, we believe, is our humble way of recognizing your invaluable contributions and collaborative efforts that have been instrumental in the attainment of the National Health Insurance program and visions of universal health care. As champions, you have enabled us to carry the weight of public service with peace as we confidently respond to the demands of tasks and responsibilities,” she said.
LHIO Iligan recognized outstanding partners in various categories, including Outstanding Accredited Collecting Partners, Outstanding Self-Earning Individuals, Outstanding Private Micro-Enterprises, Outstanding Private Employers, and Outstanding LGU BPLO Awards; Outstanding Media Partner;
Outstanding IGroup Program Partner; Outstanding Group Enrollment Program Partner; Outstanding Point of Service Partner; Proactive Konsulta Program Partner; and Outstanding Institutional Partner, among others, for their exceptional contributions to promoting universal health care in Iligan and Lanao del Norte.

The awardees include the city government of Iligan, provincial government of Lanao del Norte, local government unit (LGU) of Kapatagan, LGU Lala, LGU Baroy, Land Bank of the Philippines, Iligan City East National High School, Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative Inc., Radyo Pilipinas Iligan, DXNE FM Radyo Kalambuan, MSU-IIT National Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Department of Education Lanao del Norte, Department of Trade and Industry Lanao del Norte, MSU Lanao del Norte Agricultural College;
Philippine Information Agency Iligan-Lanao del Norte, Department of Labor and Employment Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Lanao del Norte Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Iligan City Social Welfare and Development Office, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan Inc., among others.
“Thank you for this honor and for recognizing the fruits of our collaboration. This moment inspires us to do even more for the people we serve. Together, we can make Iligan City a place where every resident feels supported, cared for, and valued,” Mayor Frederick Siao said.

Meanwhile, Lanao del Norte Provincial Board Member Cristy Atay emphasized the value of collaboration and unity in achieving universal health care. She emphasized that ensuring the well-being of the people will create a foundation for a brighter and healthier future for Lanao del Norte.
