PhilHealth urges Ilokanos to register, avail of Konsulta package

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) encourages its members in Ilocos Norte to register and avail of services under the Konsultasyong Sulit Tama (Konsulta) package.

Under the Universal Health Care Law, the Konsulta package is a primary healthcare provider that provides comprehensive and quality outpatient benefits.

It aims to protect the health of every Filipino against chronic illnesses, avoid complications through early detection, and provide affordable drugs and medicines.

The package also covers consultation, health risk screening and assessment, selected laboratory and diagnostic tests, and selected drugs and medicines.

These laboratory and diagnostic examinations include complete blood count (CBC) with platelet count, urinalysis, fecalysis, sputum microscopy, fecal occult blood, pap smear (for female), lipid profile (total cholesterol, high-density lipoproteins (HDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides), fasting blood sugar (FBS), oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT), electrocardiogram (ECG), chest X-ray, creatinine, and HbA1c, which is a blood test that is used to diagnose type 2 diabetes.

Meanwhile, the following list enumerates the wide range of medications under the Konsulta package: Amoxicillin (anti-microbial), Co-Amoxiclav, Cotrimoxazole, Nitrofurantoin, Ciprofloxacin, Clarithromycin, Oral Rehydration Salts (fluid and electrolytes), Prednisone (anti-asthma), Salbutamol, Fluticasone + Salmeterol, Paracetamol (antipyretics), Gliclazide (anti-diabetic), Metformin, Simvastatin (anti-dyslipidemia), Enalapril (anti-hypertensives), Metoprolol, Amlodipine, Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan, Aspirin (anti-thrombotics), and Chlorpheniramine Maleate (antihistamine).

“Dati kasi, tutulungan ka ng PhilHealth kung na-admit ka na sa ospital. Starting November 2019, sa outpatient package natin, mayroon man o walang nararamdamang symptoms, dapat magpakita sa accredited PhilHealth Konsulta provider, pribado man o gobyerno,” said Eduardo Dulatre, chief social insurance officer of PhilHealth Ilocos Norte.

(Before, PhilHealth would help you if you were admitted to the hospital. Starting November 2019, in our outpatient package, with or without symptoms, you must show up to an accredited PhilHealth Konsulta provider, whether private or government.)

In the province, there are 13 accredited facilities where PhilHealth members can register to avail of the package.

These are Black Nazarene Hospital Inc., Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, MSR Healthcare Clinic, Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital, Gaoat Hospital, Piddig District Hospital, Karmelli Clinic and Hospital Corporation, Pagudpud Adventist Wellness Center, Dingras District Hospital, and Rural Health Units of Solsona, Pagudpud, Banna, and Nueva Era.

“Sa PhilHealth Ilocos Norte, patuloy naming ini-engganyo ang mga healthcare facilities dito sa Ilocos Norte na magpaaccredit para maraming pagpipilian ang mga residente sa probinsya at mapili nila kung saan ang pinakamalapit sa kanila,” added Dulatre.

(At PhilHealth Ilocos Norte, we continue to encourage the healthcare facilities here in Ilocos Norte to get accredited so that the residents of the province have many choices and can choose which one is closest to them.)

In a Konsulta Caravan held on June 19–21 at Robinsons Place Ilocos in San Nicolas town, Roderick Menor, a barangay official in San Nicolas, thanked PhilHealth for “upgrading” its benefits for their members.

“Matagal na akong PhilHealth member at napakaganda na na-upgrade ang mga benepisyo. Maganda rin na gusto nilang bumisita sa mga barangay at ma-inform sa mga hindi pa miyembro ng PhilHealth,” said Menor.

(I’ve been a PhilHealth member for a long time, and it’s great that the benefits have been upgraded. It is also good that they want to visit the barangays and inform those who are not yet members of PhilHealth.)

Members can apply through self-registration through the member portal at www.philhealth.gov.ph or at any PhilHealth office in their area. (AMB/MJTAB/PIA Ilocos Norte)
