PhilHealth-XI reaches out to content creators

DAVAO CITY—As a way of reaching more Filipinos through online and social media, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation Field Office XI (PhilHealth XI) is reaching out to digital influencers and social media influencers to help them disseminate PhilHealth’s programs and updates.

“We really recognize the importance and the part of our bloggers, social media influencers, and content creators in shaping public perception that is the reason why we conducted a social health insurance education series,” says PhilHealth-XI Public Affairs Office OIC Kleah Guevarra.

The social health insurance education series is an information campaign of PhilHealth where different sectors are oriented on universal health care and PhilHealth programs.

The SHInES (Social Health Insurance Education Series) leg for members of the media, key opinion leaders, and online content creators was held from July 23 to 25, 2024 at the Arcadia Event Center in Davao City.

“We chose particularly this sector dahil napakalaki po ng influence nila (they have a really big influence) in creating a literate public pagdating sa social health insurance and we are glad that they have been supporting us and we have maintained linkage we have continuous communication with them,” Guevarra said during their guesting at the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas media forum held July 10 at NCCC VP in Davao City.

She said they are anticipating a partnership with a group of Davao online content creators to help them in their information advocacy.

The three-day event held in July was an in-depth orientation about PhilHealth focusing on its programs and benefits. The workshop culminated with participants creating reels to promote PhilHealth benefits to those who are not yet enrolled in their system.

Ang dami kong natutunan sa event (I learned a lot from the event) and Philhealth trying to reach as many Filipinos as possible and I’m so thankful they thought of us content creators,” says Kai del Corro a Davao City-based online influencer said of her experience during the Philhealth SHInES event.

Meanwhile, Guevarra said that PhilHealth also has an online presence particularly its META-verified Facebook page which provides relevant updates and information about PhilHealth. They also have a monthly online show titled Alagang PhilHealth where benefits, programs, and updates are thoroughly discussed. (PIA/RG Alama)
