MANILA, (PIA) — The Philippine Army has ramped up its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) efforts across Luzon as Super Typhoon Pepito made landfall on November 17, 2024.
In the Bicol Region, the 9th Infantry Division deployed 81 HADR teams to aid in search and rescue operations across Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
Meanwhile, the 7th Infantry Division sent three teams to assist with the repacking of relief goods at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 3 Warehouse in San Simon, Pampanga.
Additionally, the 2nd Infantry Division dispatched rescue personnel and three KM450 vehicles to Buenavista and San Rafael towns in Quezon Province, as well as Capalonga in Camarines Norte, to support ongoing HADR operations.
The 59th Infantry Battalion contributed two military trucks to bolster the Quezon provincial government’s rescue efforts.
In total, the Army has placed 534 Search, Rescue and Retrieval (SRR) and Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) teams on standby to respond to the needs of communities affected by the typhoon.
The Army’s HADR teams are steadfast in their commitment to provide immediate assistance to communities impacted by successive typhoons.
Their troops and assets are pre-positioned and deployed to vulnerable areas, ready to assist affected families and support subsequent relief and rehabilitation efforts. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
