Philippine Army shows appreciation for paramilitary unit in Basilan

ISABELA CITY, Basilan (PIA) –  The Philippine Army in Basilan marked its 128th anniversary by distributing new uniforms and combat boots to Civilian Armed Auxiliaries stationed at remote patrol bases throughout the province.

Brigadier General Alvin V. Luzon, commander of the 101st Infantry “Three Red Arrows” Brigade, led the activity, supporting the dedication of these personnel in maintaining peace and security in the province.

The activity, dubbed the “Combat Clothing and Individual Equipment program,” included not just uniforms and combat boots but also caps and personal hygiene kits, emphasizing the Army’s commitment to the welfare of the CAAs.

These essential items were distributed across various patrol bases, including Dugaa and Magpantay in Lamitan City, Bohe Lebong and Bohe Baca in Ungkaya Pukan, Pintasan in Hadji Mohammad Ajul, as well as Mahatallang and Marang in Sumisip.

Battalion commanders took an active role in the distribution process, reinforcing a sense of camaraderie and respect for those on the front lines of local security.

Luzon addressed the gathered CAAs, expressing the Army’s commitment to support them.

“We are honored to provide our valued CAAs with the resources they need to perform their duties with pride and confidence. This distribution signifies our commitment to your welfare and our gratitude for your service, which has greatly contributed to peace and order in Basilan,” he said.

He explained that the program is also part of the Philippine Army’s broader efforts to enhance collaboration with community stakeholders and fortify relationships with local populations. The continued support for CAAs highlights the Army’s commitment to recognizing and valuing the contributions of those whose dedication remains pivotal to national security.

As each item was handed out, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of pride and motivation.

The CAAs said that the new uniforms not only signify an enhancement in their operational capacity but also serve as a symbol of the respect they have earned from their military counterparts (EDT/NDR/PIA9-Basilan with reports from 101st Infantry Red Arrow Brigade)
