MANILA, (PIA) — Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido visited the 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command (593ESC) of the U.S. Army at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, USA, on November 4, 2024. The visit aimed to enhance the logistics and sustainment capabilities of the Philippine Army.
“Strengthening our logistics capability, particularly for large-scale deployment and ground force sustainment, is vital in our shift to territorial defense operations,” Lt. Gen. Galido said, underscoring the importance of logistics in the Army’s operational readiness.
Accompanied by U.S. Army 1 Corps Commanding General Lt. Gen. Matthew W. McFarlane, Lt. Gen. Galido received comprehensive capability briefs from key U.S. Army officials, including 593ESC Commander Brig. Gen. Kevin Cotman, 1st Multi-Domain Task Force Commander Col. Charles Kean, and 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade Commander Col. Brandon Teague.

During the visit, Lt. Gen. Galido observed a static display at the 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion motor pool, where he examined U.S. Army sustainment capabilities designed for large-scale logistics operations.
Strengthening logistics and sustainment is a strategic focus for the Philippine Army as it aims to bolster its territorial defense posture.
