QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Philippines’ largest agribusiness trade fair, Agrilink 2024, launched its 29th edition at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, showcasing the country’s agricultural potential on the global stage.
Under the theme “The Best of Philippine Agri to the World,” the three-day event emphasizes the country’s agricultural export capabilities and efforts to expand into international markets.
Congresswoman Camille Villar and Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness Genevieve E. Velicaria-Guevarra were among the dignitaries attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In her keynote address, Velicaria-Guevarra highlighted the Department of Agriculture’s initiatives to boost global competitiveness, including farm consolidation, technology adoption, and capacity-building programs.
“The heart of our bountiful resources are our hardworking farmers and fisherfolk,” Velicaria-Guevarra said.
The event features exhibits showcasing agricultural innovations, sustainable practices, and seminars on topics such as farming techniques and digital transformation in agriculture.
The Department of Agriculture spotlighted four major projects: the Philippines Solar Irrigation Project, Farm-to-Market Road Development Program, Post-Harvest Facilities and Mechanization, and the Logistics Chain Modernization Program.
An entrepreneurial investment forum, “Usapang Agribiz,” organized in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry, will explore global market prospects and export strategies.
The event also includes a roundtable discussion featuring young farmers sharing their experiences in exporting coffee, bananas, and innovative spice creations.
