GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) — Starbright Office Depot, Inc. in partnership with Department of Education (DepEd) General Santos City Division launched on Saturday, Feb. 18, their Art Caravan 2023 with 13-year old Worth Lodriga, the “Young Picasso of the Philippines,” as their inspirational speaker.
The art caravan, which is in line with the celebration of the National Arts Month, also included a painting workshop with Lodriga who has been doing his art tours around the country for eight years now, teaching the basics of painting to young Filipinos and giving free materials to art enthusiasts as well.
The caravan was attended by students from nine different schools in General Santos City under the Special Program in the Arts.
“I believe that art is for everyone and I know that there are a lot of gifted kids out there but just couldn’t afford to do it,” he said, as he encouraged them to continue honing their artistic ability.
Lodriga, who started painting at age 2, is a multi-international award-winning artist, first-ever Child Youth Ambassador, and Asian Ambassador of Cartoon Network.
“Keep drawing, be proud to be a Filipino, and continue to discover and inspire the world through us,” he added.
The workshop which was capped with the awarding of the Top 5 best artworks, ended Monday (Feb. 20). (Harlem Jude Ferolino, PIA SarGen)
