PhilRice showcases modern rice technology to agri students, farmers in Isabela

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) — The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) – Isabela recently showcased advancements in rice production technology during the 2024 Lakbay Palay Wet Season event for agriculture students and rice farmers at Malasin, San Mateo, Isabela.

OIC PhilRice Isabela Branch Director Joy Bartolome Duldulao said the Lakbay Palay event is designed to introduce and demonstrate various modern rice production technologies available at the station.

Approximately 450 rice farmers and agriculture students from the Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Regions attended the event, involving partner agencies, private companies, farm schools, state universities and colleges, and local government units.

Activities included a field tour of rice demonstration farms and Tekno Tiangge and Tekno Talakayan sessions.

DA CAR Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Dr. Arlene M. Sagayo emphasized that the Lakbay Palay event highlights the achievements in rice technology.

“If everyone unites and collaborates to overcome challenges, we can achieve our goals and build a stronger agricultural community,” she said.

During the field visit, participants had the opportunity to explore 15 field demonstration stations. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
