PHLPost expands express mail service with new NCR hubs

MANILA, (PIA) — Starting Monday, January 13, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) will launch its new Express Mail Service (EMS) delivery hubs across Metro Manila, promising next day delivery, and enhancing its domestic and international express mail services to benefit its customers.

According to Alvin Fidelson of PHLPost’s Corporate Communications Division, these hubs will open at the Manila, Quezon City, and Makati Central Post Offices, complementing an existing hub in Pasay City.

Currently, the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City handles the majority of express mail deliveries in the National Capital Region,” Fidelson said.

The new hubs will allow EMS personnel and couriers to operate more efficiently closer to customers, reducing delivery times and improving service accessibility,” he added.

“These EMS hubs will provide customers with greater convenience and savings, as they are now closer to their locations,” he further said.

Undelivered items, he said, will be held for seven days, allowing customers ample time to request redelivery or pick up their items without needing to travel to the CMEC.

The new delivery system aims to optimize service across the densely populated region, which represents a significant portion of PHLPost’s delivery volume.

Each hub will cover specific areas: the Quezon City hub will serve Caloocan, Malabon, Marikina, Navotas, Novaliches, Quezon City, and Valenzuela; the CMEC hub will cater to Pasay, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Taguig; the Makati hub will handle Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Pateros; while the Manila hub will service Manila and San Juan.

Under the new service structure, domestic express mail sent from post offices after the cut-off time will be delivered within 48 hours.

The cut-off time varies by location, with most NCR areas requiring items to be mailed by 2:00 PM or 3:30 PM, depending on the post office.

PHLPost’s Domestic Express Mail Service (DEMS) offers the fastest method for sending urgent documents and goods across the Philippines, with next-day delivery available for items posted before the cut-off.

In addition to its domestic services, PHLPost is leveraging its membership with the Universal Postal Union and bilateral agreements with 56 countries to facilitate international EMS shipments.

This expansion reflects PHLPost’s commitment to improving logistics and e-commerce capabilities, reinforcing its competitive position in the market. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
