PHLPost mobilizes support for ‘Kristine’ relief efforts

MANILA, (PIA) — The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has swiftly responded to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for disaster relief following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, mobilizing resources to assist the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in recovery operations in the Bicol region.

On Sunday, PHLPost deployed three trucks loaded with essential supplies aimed at supporting communities devastated by the typhoon.

Two of the trucks transported 720 shelter tarpaulins—360 per truck—while the third was stocked with 3,500 hygiene kits. The total delivery amounted to approximately 60 tons of critical relief goods.

To facilitate the urgent transfer of these supplies from Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo to Villamor Airbase in Pasay, PHLPost’s logistical fleet played a key role in ensuring that assistance reaches Region 5, one of the areas severely impacted by the storm.

This initiative underscores PHLPost’s commitment to serving the public not only as a postal service but also as a vital responder during crises.

In times of need, we are here to support our communities with all the resources we have. Our mission at PHLPost extends beyond delivering mail; it is also about serving Filipinos, especially during critical times like these,” said Postmaster General and CEO Luis D. Carlos.

Together with the Office of the Civil Defense, we are committed to delivering much-needed relief and embodying the spirit of bayanihan that defines us as a nation,” Carlos added.

PHLPost has a long-standing commitment to community support and national development.

With its extensive logistics network and experience, the organization continues to provide reliable assistance to government initiatives, particularly in disaster response and resilience efforts.

This latest mobilization reflects PHLPost’s proactive approach to aiding national and local agencies in their mission to protect and serve the Filipino people. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
