PHO conducts health screening for oil spill responders in Pola

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – In connection with the sinking of MT Princess Empress off the coast of Naujan on February 28, 2023, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) conducted yesterday health screening activities for the oil spill responders in Brgy. Buhay na Bato, Pola.

The screening aims to ensure the good and healthy bodies of those involved in containing the oil spills, particularly the responders from the said town.

The provincial government through PHO is targeting all responders to be screened in order to diagnose the effect of the oil spills on their health if there is life-threatening condition so that prevention of any kinds of risks before it is too late can be treated.

Along with the conduct of health screening, the PHO also disseminated health advisory, orientation, and safety measures to oil spill responders as well as to the residents of the communities.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and all the LGUs in the second district have joined together to monitor developments as well as implement measures in containing the spread of oil spills and conduct emergency response to areas affected by the incident.  (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
