SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency Region 1, in partnership with the Association of Regional Government Information Officers (ARGIO-1) staged the annual capacity-building training cum general assembly dubbed as, “M4mation Officers para sa Bagong Pilipinas” held in Baguio City on Nov.15-17.
Some 81 regional and provincial government information officers, as well as press relation officers of government-owned and controlled corporations, participated during the three-day learning session.
The four M’s that embody the term “M4mation Officers” are the Filipino words: maabilidad, maagap, mahusay, at malusog.
“This endeavor encapsulates our shared commitment to be skillful, proactive, proficient, and healthy information officers for a renewed Philippines,” PIA-1 Regional Director Jennilyne Role said in her opening remarks.

Participants actively engaged during the lecture and workshop sessions on news and feature writing, and on graphics design and data visualization.
Government communicators also eagerly participated in the lectures and re-orientation on Mental Health, Social Media Content Management, Digital Payments and Cyber Hygiene, and Basic Operations of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines and Causes of Power Interruption.
New relevant topics were also introduced during the activity such as a special online tool that can generate various contents through artificial intelligence, as well as a briefer on National, Personal, and Document Security.
Participants during the training dubbed as “M4mation Officers para sa Bagong Pilipinas” are government communicators from regional line agencies, local government units, and government-owned and controlled corporations in the Ilocos Region.
PIA and ARGIO annually conduct trainings among government communicators to capacitate them to adapt to new trends; provide refreshers on traditional means of communication; and promote individual well-being.
Meanwhile, the ARGIO also elected its new set of officers, and discussed the accomplishments and financial status of the organization during the said event.
ARGIO is a institutionalized communication network composed of various government information officers, press relations officers, or communication officers of regional line agencies in the Ilocos, and is under the guidance of PIA as its adviser. (JCR/MJTAB/CGC, PIA Region 1)
