PIA Camarines Sur inks MOU with 105.5 IDOL FM Naga

NAGA CITY (PIA)—To further bolster its information dissemination campaign, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) –Camarines Sur Provincial Office recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 105.5 Bicol IDOL FM Naga.

The partnership aims to strengthen and widen PIA’s circulation of various government programs and deepen its engagement with diverse audience through the radio program dubbed PIA Radio Café: Kapihan sa IDOL.

Bicol IDOL Area Manager Ken Sumayao Cabaltera said that it is actually the idea of Bicol IDOL FM General Manager Robert Palanca to share the airwaves with different government agencies and provide them with their desired audience.

“Actually, that is GM Palanca’s vision to provide our listeners with  a balance and relevant programming that will educate the public regarding matters surrounding them, through innovative, pro-active and informative and ethical approaches,” Cabaltera stated.

PIA Radio Café: Kapihan sa IDOL aims to reach new audiences through IDOL FM’s vast listenership.  It endeavors to utilize the broadcast platform which has now expanded into a digitized information source.

105.5 Bicol IDOL FM Naga Station Manager Erwin “Bong” Villacruz extended his full support to PIA Camarines Sur and said that the partnership will also boost their services as part of the station’s vision.

“Other government agencies are also having their programs here at Bicol IDOL FM Naga. PIA Camarines Sur is an addition to our growing family of partners and we welcome you here with open arms,” Villacruz enthused.

As the information arm of the government, the Philippine Information Agency-Camarines Sur Provincial Office under the stewardship of its Provincial Head, Ana-Liza S. Macatangay, PIA Radio Café, will be an added avenue for the dissemination of relevant information regarding the administration’s current programs as it embark on carrying out its key agenda and cascade it down to the grassroots community.

PIA, per President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr’s Executive Order No. 16, is one of the communication agencies of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), under the “control and direct supervision of the President.”  It is mandated to help the PCO in “engaging and involving the citizenry and the mass media in enriching the quality of public discourse on all matters of governance.”

PIA Radio Café: Kapihan sa IDOL premiere episode was launched today, Feb. 17, Friday.

Part of the succeeding episodes will contain discussion of President Marcos’ eight-point socio-economic agenda in the near and medium-term which consists of the following:  (1) Protect the purchasing power and mitigate socioeconomic scarring; (2) Reduce vulnerability and mitigate scarring from the COVID-19 pandemic; (3) Ensure sound macroeconomic fundamentals; (4) Create more jobs; (5) Create quality jobs; (6) Create green jobs; (7) uphold public order and safety, peace and security ; and (8) Ensure a level playing field.

The said programs will be discussed in detail with resource persons coming from different government agencies, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), and civic societies, among others.
