PIA, Capiz gov’t info officers play early ‘Santa’ to daycare, primary school pupils

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA)—With just a few days before the start of the “ber” months that will signal the start of the Christmas season, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Capiz Information Center (Capiz Infocen) and its supervised Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers (CAGPIO) distributed school bags and various school supplies in Jamindan town.

There were 154 daycare and primary school pupils from barangays Caridad, Fe, Lapaz, and Sto. Rosario are now better equipped for the school year 2024–2025, as they received their bags and school supplies from the PIA and CAGPIO.

April Llait, a mother of three from Barangay Caridad, expressed her gratitude to PIA and CAGPIO for providing school supplies to two of her children and for bringing the services of various government agencies into their barangay.

“Even though we already bought school supplies for our kids, those were not enough. That is why I am grateful to the PIA and CAGPIO for visiting us, so I no longer have to worry [about the rest of the needed supplies],” Llait added in Hiligaynon.

Moreover, Caridad Punong Barangay Gerel Leti said they are delighted to be one of the beneficiaries of this year’s PIA and CAGPIO school supply distribution.

“On behalf of the whole council of Barangay Caridad, I thank them,” Leti noted in Hiligaynon.

Each daycare pupil received a coloring book, pencils, crayons, paper, and sharpener; the Grades 1 to 2 learners received five notebooks, paper, and pencils; the Grade 3 students received five notebooks, paper, pencils, and ballpens; the Grade 4 students received seven notebooks, paper, ballpens, a ruler, glue; and the Grade 5 students received eight notebooks, paper, ballpens, and a protractor.

The distribution was the highlight of the “Hinunanon sa Barangay,” or Barangay Forum, held in the covered gymnasium of Brgy. Caridad on August 9, 2024.

PIA-Capiz Infocen manager Alex Lumaque said that aside from the school supply distribution, the Hinun-anon sa Barangay is a way through which the agency informs the grassroots levels about the programs of the various local and national government agencies. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
