QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Information Agency – National Capital Region (PIA-NCR) on Thursday, launched the Metro Manila Communication Enhancement Program (MCEP) aimed at providing support to local government unit (LGU) public information officers and communicators in their efforts to raise public service delivery down to the grassroots level.
The technical assistance program, to roll out in the 16 cities and one municipality, and eventually in Barangays in Metro Manila will elevate the way information officers disseminate timely, accurate and relevant information to empower the people in their daily decision making.

It will consist of a series of site visits, consultations, learning interventions, recommendations, and information sharing that will be based on data-driven measures and research based solutions.
Present in the event are PIA-NCR Regional Director Emver P. Cortez, PIA-NCR Assistant Regional Director Alice V. Sicat, Quezon City Public Affairs and Information Services Department Head Engelbert C. Apostol, and PIOs from different cities in the region.

In his statement, Regional Director Cortez emphasized the importance of local government information officers and expressed his gratitude for their participation during the launch.
“This initiative will start with the LGU information officers as they reach the grassroots level, engaging with people throughout the nooks and crannies of a community.”

“Your presence today is a testament that we are all towards improving our communication efforts and to have a unified approach when it comes to delivering government programs and projects here in Metro Manila,” he added. (PIA-NCR)
