GSP campers watch PIA Negros Oriental’s report on blood letting activity organized by DOST Scholars Association during the opening night of the 39th GSP Encampment held on Jan. 30, 2025 at Camp Lily Gamo, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
SIBULAN, Negros Oriental (PIA) — The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Government Information Center (GIC) here screened informational videos on government advocacies during the opening of the 39th Girl Scouts of the Philippines Encampment (GSP) held at Camp Lily Gamo, this town.
Attended by 1,000 GSP campers, PIA presented selected clips from its Maayong Balita sa Central Visayas which highlighted development stories in Negros Oriental, particularly on environment and climate change, disaster preparedness, science and education, youth leadership, and women empowerment.
It is also PIA’s way of helping mold future community leaders by keeping them updated with the right information on how the government addresses certain issues.
This annual event gathers hundreds of girl scouts from Negros Oriental and the nearby province of Siquijor and engage them in experiential learning sessions on survivability, practical skills, leadership, and arts.
With the theme, “Women of Today for the Girls of Tomorrow,” this year’s GSP encampment started on Jan. 30 and will end on Feb. 3.
GSP Camp Director Mirasol Apuli said the annual GSP camps hone the leadership potential of young females.
“Ang mo-lead aning atoang camp, aside from our camp staff, naa pod tay girl representatives. Sila ang mga campers before na maka-inspire sa mga kababayen-an,” Apuli said.
(Aside from our camp staff, we also have our girl representatives taking the lead in this. They used to be campers who will give inspiration to our girls).
Apuli said the GSP encampment will equip the Girl Scouts with life skills that they can apply in any situation. (RAL/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
