CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), will hold a Media Orientation for Cebu journalists on Nov. 21.
Around 27 journalists from TV, print, and radio here in Cebu will be oriented on the government’s peace process and initiatives for nation-building and development.
The activity will focus on “Understanding the Government’s Peace Process and Initiatives for Nation Building and Development.”
This is part of the national strategy that aims to establish and preserve a favorable climate for peace and security, which recognizes the vital role of the media in conveying government efforts toward a fair and sustainable peace and advancement.
Expected to join the activity are PIA Deputy Director-General for Knowledge Management and Strategic Communications Elmer Jude M. Mesina, Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin N. Garcia who will deliver the keynote message, and PIA7 Regional Head Fayette C. Riñen.
Other officials who will attend are representatives from the OPAPRU who will lead the discussions on the “Localized Peace Engagement and Transformation Program” and “Understanding the Multi-Dimensional Nature of the Local Communist Armed Conflict and Transformation Program.”
Meanwhile, OPRAPRU Presidential Assistant for Local Conflict Transformation for the LPE-TP Media Orientation Usec. Wilben M. Mayor will also deliver a virtual message for the participants. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
