NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – The provincial local government unit (PLGU) of Biliran is planning to tie up with local cable television stations next year in broadcasting news about Biliran.
This was shared by Biliran Governor Gerard Roger M. Espina during the Biliran Communicators Network (BilComNet) Year-end Planning Conference on December 7.
Governor Espina plans to have content for the province and the eight towns in a TV program that will be shown in the local cable TV stations next year.
Currently, Biliran has two local TV stations both located in Naval, the capital town of the province.
Having a TV program is also one of BilComNet’s planned activities for 2024, to request for TV timeslots in local cable television stations, for information dissemination of programs, projects, services, and accomplishments of national government agencies and local government units.
“With this initiative, we can further promote our province, we can further promote the services of government,” Governor Espina told information officers of national government agencies and some members of private media in the province during the year-end activity held at the province’s Civic Center.
He emphasized that this is one avenue where we can tell stories of Biliranons, the ordinary life, their hardships, their success stories, and showing it in a local television program is already a big thing.
He urged the members of BilComNet, as communicators, to promote good stories of Biliran, and tell empowering and inspiring stories.
Governor Espina, in his message of support, commended BilComNet members for a very good performance this year, where he also appreciated the active involvement of information sharing, especially in its Messenger chat group where the governor is part of.
Espina also reminded BilComNet members to always uphold the ethical standards in the practice of journalism and be responsible in news reporting. (MMP/RSV/PIA Biliran, with photo by Mar-Joan Aguilos, Radyo Natin Naval)
