PNP, AFP join forces to secure Misamis Occidental’s May 2025 elections

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) – Lieutenant Colonel Nelson Q. Boticario of the 10th Infantry Battalion (10IB), Philippine Army, and PMAJ James M. Daleon of the Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office detailed a deployment strategy placing security forces in strategic areas to secure safe and peaceful elections in May 2025.

“We have 464 voting centers and need 1,295 active PNP personnel for successful elections,” PMAJ Daleon said.

He also shared that since they lack about 74 PNP personnel, LtCol. Boticario of the 10IB has deployed its personnel to augment security forces at every checkpoint of every municipality in the province.

Meanwhile, PMAJ Daleon reported intensified operations against criminal networks, with an expanded police presence in high-risk areas.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) election security measures focused on troop deployment and contingency planning to prevent untoward disruptions.

LtCol. Boticario emphasized the need for a proactive strategy to secure communities ahead of the elections and affirmed the military’s commitment to assisting other law enforcement forces in addressing personnel gaps.

His presentation showcased Misamis Occidental’s designation as an insurgency-free province by the national oversight panel and the progress of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which aids former rebels in reintegrating into society.

Such milestones reflect years of coordinated law enforcement, effective governance, and reintegration efforts that have successfully encouraged former insurgents to embrace civilian life.

From 2021 to 2024, a total of 116 former rebels have availed of the E-CLIP. Of these, 25 are for reintegration, 37 are for firearms remuneration, and two have already received remuneration, while 35 are still in the process.

Maintaining this status demands continuous collaboration, active community engagement, and strategic peacekeeping efforts.

Further, Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) chair, Gov. Henry S. Oaminal, shared his full support to the law enforcement troops to ensure that elections in May will be peaceful and orderly.

The first quarter 2025 joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) with the Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), Misamis Occidental Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MOPADAC), and Provincial Solid Waste Management Board (PSWMB) took place on February 11, 2025 at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center.
