SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — The Police Provincial Office (PPO) of Occidental Mindoro is working closely with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and other uniformed personnel to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) in the province.
During the Kapihan sa PIA on January 22, Police Major Xelacor Marie Garcia of PPO, outlined the strategies to maintain order during the elections, saying their priority is the efficient manning the COMELEC checkpoints they have set up throughout the province.
“Naglagay ang PNP ng 13 checkpoints sa mga strategic locations sa probinsya na binabantayan ng ating mga pulis, kasama ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine Coast Guard,” Garcia said.

Garcia highlighted that the Gun Ban is strictly enforced at these checkpoints.
“Sa kasalukuyan, wala pang naiiulat na untoward incident sa mga checkpoints sa probinsya,” she added.
[So far, no untoward incidents have been reported at any of our checkpoints.]
In the province, five out of the 11 municipalities have been classified under the orange category, indicating the presence of armed threats or members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), as confirmed by the Philippine National Police (PNP).These include the towns of San Jose, Magsaysay, Rizal, Calintaan, and Sablayan.
Meanwhile, specific barangays being closely monitored for security threats are Naibuan, Monteclaro, and Batasan in San Jose, and Purnaga in Magsaysay.
In Calintaan, the barangays under surveillance are Iriron, Poypoy, Malpalon, Concepcion, and Dagupan while in Rizal, the monitored villages are Manoot and Malawaan.
In Sablayan, the barangays under watch include Burgos, Malisbong, Batong Buhay, Ligaya, San Francisco, and San Nicolas.
Despite the categorization of these areas, Garcia assured that the PNP is prepared to maintain order during the 2025 Mid-term Elections.
“Titiyaking nakahanda sa mismong araw ng eleksyon ang higit 800 uniformed personnel na ide-deploy sa mga polling center,” Garcia said.
[It will be ensured that over 800 uniformed personnel are ready and deployed to polling centers on election day.]
Out of this total, 675 personnel will be from the PNP, 29 from the PCG, 22 from the Special Action Force, 48 from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and 50 from the Philippine Army. (VND/PIA MIMAROPA–Occidental Mindoro)
