NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) — Security forces in Davao de Oro recorded zero crimes and violence in the province on October 1-8, 2024 relative to the filing of Certificate of Candidacy for the 2025 Midterm National and Local Elections.
In a statement, Police Colonel Antonio Alberio Jr, provincial director of Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office (DDOPPO), praised the cooperation and discipline demonstrated by all the stakeholders involved.
“The orderly conduct of the filing process underscores our community’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law,” PCol Alberio said.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Felix Ronnie Babac, commander of the 1001st Infantry Brigade, affirmed the peaceful conduct of the filing after the conclusion of their enhanced security operations.
BGen Babac emphasized the importance of their partnership with the police and the Commission on Elections to ensure the safety of aspirants, election personnel, and the public.
Even before October 1, local election officials collaborated with the police and army to create a peaceful electoral environment, maintain order, and enable candidates and their supporters to participate without disruption.
“Our coordinated efforts have been vital in maintaining peace during this critical phase of the electoral process,” Babac said.
According to COMELEC Davao de Oro, 296 aspirants filed their COC in the whole province.
Among these, 33 aspirants submitted their papers at the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor in Nabunturan.
On October 14, COMELEC Davao de Oro forwarded all COCs, and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) to the Law Department and Election Records and Statistics Department at their main office in Intramuros, Manila. (PIA Davao de Oro/MLU/photos from 1001BDE and DDOPPO)
