QUEZON CITY (PIA) — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil said that the National and Local Elections this year was generally peaceful.
During his interview during the Hatol ng Bayan 2025 special election coverage aired over People’s Television Network (PTV), the PNP chief said that the conduct of elections was generally peaceful.
“I can say that this is very peaceful compared before. Even doon sa pre-election po namin, yung numbers po ng insidente mas mababa po ngayon. Ang binabantayan lang namin is [sabi ko nga kanina], pre-election, election, and post-election yung simula na po ng canvassing.”
(I can say that this is very peaceful compared before. Even during our pre-election, the incident numbers are lower now. All we are watching is [I said earlier], pre-election, election, and post-election when canvassing starts.)
Marbil said that the PNP is in full force before, during the elections, especially during the canvassing of votes.
“Kung ngayon 80%, 90%, 100% po full force kami. But once nag umpisa ang canvassing nga mga [balota] gusto namin mas maraming pulis kasi dito po yung ine-expect namin yung mga ibang tao, yung mga supporters.”
(If now we are 80%, 90%, 100% full force. But once the canvassing of [ballots] starts, we want more police because this is where we expect other people, the supporters.)
The PNP chief also noted the preparations made by law enforcements to ensure peace and security in this election.
“Malaki kasi ang tulong doon sa information ng mga tao…Then of course, yung preparation ng PNP and with the support of AFP and Coast Guard talagang pinakita po natin yung kagustuhan po ng Presidente natin na maging orderly itong eleksyon na’to ay natutupad.”
(The information provided by the people is of great help… Then of course, the preparation of the PNP and with the support of the AFP and Coast Guard, we have really shown that the desire of our President for this election to be orderly is being fulfilled.)
He also assured the public that the police will remain in full force until the final canvassing of votes and winners will be proclaimed by the Commission on Elections. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
