PNP Cordillera celebrates 126th Independence Day

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) — The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) marked the celebration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day honoring the sacrifices of the heroes and freedom fighters.

 

PRO-CAR Regional Director PBGen. David Peredo Jr.,  after leading the flag raising ceremony  at Camp Major Bado Dangwa in  La Trinidad,  paid tribute to the bravery and nationalism of those who fought for freedom, upholding the principles of democracy and valuing peace, justice, and human rights that  Filipinos  cherish today.

 

“As members of the Philippine National Police, we are entrusted with the solemn duty of upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of our fellow Filipinos. On this momentous occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of freedom, democracy, and nationhood. Let us stand united in our resolve to build a nation where every Filipino can thrive with dignity, equality, and opportunity,” Peredo said.

 

He also recognized the loyalty and service of everyone within the organization as their sacrifices and dedication continue to ensure that  society thrives in safety and peace.

 

Peredo together with Deputy Regional Director for Administration, PBGen. Patrick Joseph Allan, Deputy Regional Director for Operations PCol. Elmer Ragay, Chief Regional Staff, PCol. Julio Lizardo led the release of white doves as a symbolic gesture that signifies PRO-CAR’s aspirations for a peaceful and harmonious society.

 

As the doves soared into the sky, their flight represents  the collective hope for a future filled with unity, progress, and tranquility.

 

The different police offices in the provinces, the municipalities and cities also participated in the Independence Day celebrations in their respective localities with the theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”

 

In the afternoon, the PRO-CAR participated in the “Musikalayaan sa Norte”  together with the  Northern Luzon Command -Armed Forces of the Philippines, through the Civil Relations Service AFP, the City Government of Baguio, and SM City Baguio.  

 

The MusiKalayaan is a combination of musical and cultural celebration  to celebrate   the spirit of freedom and patriotism, and  as a tribute to the courage and sacrifices of our nation’s heroes. It highlighted the importance of unity in safeguarding our freedom and sovereignty.

 

The MusiKalayaan featured talents of the different youth groups and individuals from schools and organizations  and talents from the different units of the AFP, PNP and other uniformed personnel. (RMC- PIA CAR)
