PNP highlights peace and order status in MIMAROPA

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The peace and order status in the MIMAROPA region was highlighted during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, featuring the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Police Brigadier General Roger Quesada, PRO MIMAROPA regional director, revealed that based on the PNP Nationwide Crime Statistics, MIMAROPA is among the safest regions in the country, being the Top 3 region with the lowest crime incidents for the period January 1 to June 30, 2024.

He also reported that from June 30, 2022 to July 30, 2024, a total of 5,271 cases were solved, achieving a crime solution efficiency rating of 67.24 percent, stressing that this significant accomplishment underscored the PNP’s commitment to addressing crime and ensuring the safety and security of residents in the entire region.

In the PNP’s campaign against wanted persons, their ongoing drive led to the resolution of 4,856 cases across the region as he pointed out that this achievement reflects the successful efforts of law enforcement agencies to apprehend individuals with outstanding warrants, thus, maintaining law and order.

Quesada said that PRO MIMAROPA has intensified its campaign against illegal drugs from July 2022 to the present, resulting in the confiscation of more than ₱31.53 million worth of illegal drugs. Also, out of 1,124 drug-affected barangays, a total of 81 barangays in the region have been declared as drug-cleared.

On the campaign against insurgency, its record shows that there are 418 Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) that surrendered and 29 were arrested. There were also 100 firearms recovered/confiscated/surrendered. These efforts contributed to improved peace and stability in the region, he said.

Also, in its campaign against loose firearms, Quesada said that the PRO MIMAROPA was able to conduct 9,789 operations, resulting in the arrest of 215 individuals with 3,821 confiscated/recovered/surrendered firearms. There are also 1,605 firearms that were secured in the police offices in the region for safekeeping.

Moreover, in the anti-illegal gambling campaign, the PNP arrested 1,634 individuals and confiscated bet money amounting to ₱546,221.75 from July 2022 up to the present. These actions, according to their reports demonstrated the PNP’s dedication to eradicating illegal gambling activities and promoting lawful entertainment alternatives.

Meanwhile, the PNP officials here during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas expressed their commitment to sustaining these efforts and enhancing collaboration with local communities and stakeholders to ensure a safer environment for all residents.
