MANILA (PIA) — With the holiday season approaching, the Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office (PNP FEO) has released a list of prohibited firecrackers to ensure a safer and more enjoyable celebration.
Firecrackers exceeding the legal limit of 0.3 grams of gunpowder and those with improper fuses are strictly prohibited. These include:

- Poppop
- Five Star
- Pla-pla
- Piccolo
- Giant bawang
- Goodbye bading
- Goodbye Philippines
- Atomic bomb
- Super lolo
- Hello Colombia
- Judas’ belt
- Giant whistle bomb
- Atomic triangle
- Mother rocket
- Goodbye Delima
- Goodbye Napoles
- Coke-in-can
- Super Yolanda
- Pillbox star
- Kabasi
- Hamas

The manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of these prohibited firecrackers are punishable by law. Violators may face fines ranging from P20,000 to P30,000 and/or imprisonment for 6 months to 1 year.
Pyrotechnics such as butterfly, fountain, luces, Roman candle, sparkles, trompillo, and others are allowed as long as they comply with safety regulations.
Data from PNP FEO indicates a promising trend of decreasing firecracker-related injuries and stray bullet victims:
2014: 997 firecracker-related injuries, 19 stray bullet victims
2013: 904 firecracker-related injuries, 25 stray bullet victims
2022: 188 firecracker-related injuries, 1 stray bullet victim
January 2023: 306 firecracker-related injuries, 1 stray bullet victim
This decreasing trend highlights the positive impact of stricter regulations and public awareness campaigns.
