GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) — “Ang pulis na masaya ay maraming magandang magagawa (A cheerful policeman can do a lot of good),” said Police Brig. Gen. James E. Gulmatico, the newly-installed officer-in-charge of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Soccsksargen region.
He also urged every police officer “to give their best foot forward in their service to the people by building a harmonious relationship with citizens, stakeholders, and other governmental partners.”
Speaking during the 11th episode of “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas,” which featured the Philippine National Police, Gulmatico presented PRO-12’s notable achievements in promoting peace and order in the region.

According to his reports, PRO-12 has conducted a total of 2,736 anti-illegal drug operations, which resulted in the arrest of 2,952 individuals, including the confiscation of 10,141.07 grams of shabu and 50,430.96 grams of marijuana with a total value of P78,543, 711.20.
The campaign against loose firearms has also made significant advancements, as evidenced by the 2,766 operations carried out, which resulted in 577 arrests, the recovery of 28 explosives, 622 rounds of ammunition, 3,020 firearms, 246 long weapons, and 196 short arms.
Meanwhile, the PNP has also intensified its anti-gambling initiatives, carrying out a total of 2,015 operations, which led to 2,790 arrests, 1,954 cases filed, and P1,347,298.50 worth of gambling money confiscated.
PRO 12 also conducted 111 operations in partnership with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to address smuggling issues in the region.
“The efforts have resulted in the arrest of 125 individuals and the confiscation of 2,390 boxes of smuggled cigarettes amounting to P39,370,649,” Gulmatico noted.
With these accomplishments, Gulmatico called on the people in Soccsksargen to get actively involved in nation-building and advocate for peace and progress in the region.
