Police deploys more security personnel in blazed voting center in Abra; urges people to go out and vote on E-Day

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – More security personnel will be deployed to the Dangdangla Elementary School voting center in Bangued, Abra after it caught fire on May 7, 2025, a few days before the 2025 National and Local Elections.

Abra Police Provincial Office Provincial Director Police Colonel Froiland Lopez, in a press briefing, shared that eight  personnel will be assigned to provide security in the school that will still be used as a polling precinct.

“We will be deploying eight personnel in the area, four   from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and four from the PNP,” he said.

He added that they will build tents to accommodate the voters, in addition to the two classrooms that were not affected by the recent blaze.

Lopez reported that the investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection on the fire incident is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the provincial director assured the security of other voting centers in the province with police personnel assigned in each polling precinct.

“We will assure your safety. Lumabas kayo at bumoto during the election day kasi ‘yan po ang napaka-importanteng bagay na mamimili tayo ng mamumuno sa Abra,” he urged the voting public in the province.

Amidst the shooting incidents and other crime occurrences in the province, Lopez affirmed that the police is ready to ensure a safe and secure conduct of the 2025 mid-term polls.

“The security forces are on top of the situation.Naka-ready po kami,” he said.

As of writing, there are 779 police personnel deployed for election security in the entire province. (JJMT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
