ILOILO CITY (PIA) — This year’s celebration of Dinagyang Festival is generally peaceful based on the assessment of police authorities here.
Deputy Regional Director for Operations Police Col. Joriz Cantoria of the Task Group Dinagyang shared their significant achievements of the group, highlighting the absence of major crime incidents during the festival.
“The goal was to ensure that security threats cannot make their way into these places and disrupt the celebration. And we did it. I am proud to say—Mission Accomplished!, ” Cantoria expressed in a recent Task Group Dinagyang Closing and Awarding Ceremonies.

Cantoria disclosed the three theft cases recorded and the immediate apprehension of these suspects, which according to him, demonstrates how the strategic deployment, increased police visibility, and presence made the response efficient and effective.
The task group likewise acknowledged the support and contributions of its partner agencies, volunteers, and stakeholders emphasizing that the collective efforts showcased shared responsibility.
Police Colonel Kim Legada, City Director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and Site Task Group Commander, also lauded the success of Dinagyang mirrored through the community’s cooperation.
“This success is a testament to the unwavering cooperation of the community, the dedication of our security forces, and the unity of all stakeholders who made this year’s celebration truly exceptional,” Legada said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas conveyed his gratitude to Task Force Dinagyang composing of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army, Bureau of fire Protection (BFP), force multipliers, emergency responders, traffic enforcers and City Government employees, for the dedication and service just to ensure the festival is peaceful and safe.
