SADANGA, Mountain Province (PIA) — Government operatives scored big in their two major anti-illegal drug operations in the province with the destruction of marijuana plants valued at over P10 million in the municipality of Sadanga.
The operation at Mount Balitok in brangay Saclit, Sadanga on August 17, 2024, uncovered 33,000 fully grown marijuana plants at Site 1, valued at P6,600,000.00, and 21,000 plants at Site 2, valued at approximately P4,200,000.00.
The plants were documented, burned on-site, and representative samples were collected for further processing, with an Alternative Recording Device used for proper documentation.
The subsequent operation at Mount Fetak, also in Saclit, on August 22 eradicated approximately 32,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P6,400,000.00 planted in area, covering around 1,600 square meters.
All uprooted plants were burned except for samples collected for further analysis. A certificate of destruction was issued.
Operatives involved in these operations were the Sadanga Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, 4th Platoon 2nd Mountain Province Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, under the supervision of Mountain Province Police Provincial Director PCOL Sibly P. Dawiguey Jr.
PCaptain Bonifacio Fanged, chief of the Sadanga municipal police station, shared in an interview that it has been monitored that the area of Barangay Saclit was used as plantation by still unidentified persons.
No suspect was apprehended during the operations. The joint efforts of the PNP and the other involved agencies and the community in combating illegal drug activities are all geared towards the goal of making the municipality a drug-free place and enhancing community safety.
