ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — Personnel of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Romblon recently visited the town of Magdiwang to assist residents in getting their birth certificates.
The initiative, part of the agency’s commitment to the Philsys program, focused on assisting marginalized sectors, particularly Indigenous Peoples (IP) who face challenges in accessing PSA services.
PSA Romblon reported that a significant number of recipients belonged to the poorest sector of the town, making it difficult for them to travel to PSA offices for birth registration.
The distributed Certificates of Live Birth (COLBs) also facilitated their registration in the government’s National ID system.
Chief Statistical Specialist Engr. Johnny Solis, alongside Sandra Elena Famero, the OIC Municipal Civil Registrar of Magdiwang, personally oversaw the distribution of COLBs.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for now having an authenticated copy that serves as proof of their births. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa – Romblon)
