BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — The Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) and the Volunteer Probation Assistants (VPAs) in Abra continue to find ways to help empower their clients in preparation for their reintegration to mainstream society.
They recently convened to discuss the formation of an association for the parolees and probationers in order to avail of livelihood assistance program from the government.
Senior Parole and Probation Officer Ruena Tangdol that this initiative is a means to assist their clients in their return back to mainstream society. The PPA and the VPAs are currently supervising more than 200 clients in the province.
“So ang purpose namin dito is to empower our clients to an additional source of income. What we’re discussing now is whether they will form a group or receive the pangkabuhayan program from DOLE individually,” she said.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Abra presented the salient provisions of workers associations and their livelihood programs particularly the Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Livelihood Development Specialist Roxanne Wei Enriquez and Livelihood Employment Officer Dyna Rose Baldino explained the necessary requirements for an organization to be duly accredited by DOLE, and the opportunities that it provides.
“For an organization with 15-25 members, they can receive P1 million of grant assistance under micro-livelihood while P3 million will be granted to an organization with more than 50 members,” they explained.
