CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)-10 has assured licensed professionals that they can still renew their Professional Identification Cards (PICs) without completing the required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for now. This comes as the PRC addresses concerns raised by professionals facing challenges in fulfilling CPD requirements.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on December 10, PRC Regional Director Julie L. Sabalza emphasized that while the CPD requirement will remain in effect unless amended by law, the Commission is currently accepting license renewals without the CPD credits for those unable to meet the mandatory requirements.
“Gina-encourage namo nga dapat mag renew earlier because you can renew your license one year before the expiry date. Next year, padayon gihapon atong CPD unless there’s a change or amendment. Among counter niana is modawat mi og license (renewal) without the CPD in the meantime. So avail namo karon,” she said.

To assist professionals in meeting CPD requirements, PRC-10 is working to ensure that all government offices are officially recognized as CPD providers. This enables professionals to earn credits by participating in government offices’ training programs.
In addition, volunteer professionals involved in PRC examinations will earn two CPD units per day, alongside payment for their service.
Sabalza emphasized that all Department of Education (DepEd) Divisions in the region are accredited CPD providers. As a result, all training activities conducted by these DepEd divisions are now eligible to count toward fulfilling CPD requirements for professionals.
As of November 30, PRC-10 has processed 34 applications for the accreditation of CPD providers and 466 applications for the accreditation of CPD programs. The office has also successfully processed 18,909 renewals of PICs. (APB/PIA-10)
