PRC holds mobile blood donation caravan in Paracelis

BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA)– The Philippine Red Cross-Mountain Province Chapter in partnership with local government unit of Paracelis headed by Mayor Marcos Ayangwa recently conducted Red Cross Caravan 2023 “Dugo Mo, Buhay Ko” to help save lives.Thirty individuals volunteered to share their blood but only 23 were able to successfully donate as the others had low hemoglobin level and elevated blood pressure. These volunteers were from the community of Paracelis and from the Alpha Company of the 69th Infantry Battalion 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.

Florita A. Sacgaca of the PRC said the bloodletting is a response to transfusion therapies and increasing number of hemodialysis patients in need of blood transfusion.

Other activities in the caravan included Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH)promotion and hygiene kits distribution, hair grooming, PRC membership with accidental assistance benefits program and dental health with fluoridation.Sacgaca expressed gratitude to LGU Paracelis and other government agency partners and private donors for the success of the  activity.

Among the donors   that provided other needed supplies and materials are the Generics Pharmacy that donated 40 hygiene kits; CFB Marketing for 90 gift packs (500 Alcohol spray plus vitamins), Children’s International Philippines Inc. through the Office of the Congressman for five boxes of soap; Northland Tech Institute   for refreshments for the blood donors and Billy Regaspi Jr. for the gift items for WASH participants.

‘Words are not enough to express our utmost gratitude and thank you to our benevolent donors and sponsors. Thank you so much for supporting our advocacy and activities,’ the PRC stated in its post.
