QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – In a bid to provide a unique and comfortable examination experience to aspiring Filipino professionals, the Philippine Regulation Commission – National Capital Region (PRC-NCR) pioneered the country’s first non-traditional licensure examination venue in cinema theatres.

“Alam ko pong lahat tayo ay nakapanood na ng movie sa mga cinema. Pero naisip na po ba ninyo na pwede rin ang licensure examination sa cinemas? The first in the Philippines, and only in NCR,” said PRC-NCR Officer-in-Charge Director Ronald Watson, speaking at a Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas (KBP) media forum on Tuesday, December 10.

(I know everyone has already seen movies in cinemas but does it ever cross your mind that you can take a licensure examination in cinemas? The first in the Philippines, and only in NCR.)

PRC-NCR made the implementation of this landmark initiative possible by collaborating with private sector partners led by Ayala Malls Manila Bay and Cloverleaf.

Aside from allowing examinees to take their licensure exams in cinemas, PRC-NCR also introduced the first Computer-Based Licensure Examination (CBLE) through the support of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

In addition, the commission continues to put forward the improvement of access to PRC services to cater to the welfare of aspiring and registered Filipino professionals.

As part of their wider client reach initiatives, PRC NCR has established a total of seven (7) Offsite Service Centers in select malls in Metro Manila which are all rent-free in partnership with Robinson Malls, Ayala Malls, and Megaworld Corporation.

PRC NCR also brings their services directly to clients through the conduct of Local Mobile Services in the offices of private and public sector organizations within the region, including the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

Its international counterpart, the Foreign Mobile Services, meanwhile caters to Filipino professionals in various countries including Cambodia, Dubai, and Bangkok.

In line with the digitalization thrusts of the government, PRC-NCR made the renewal and securing of professional licenses easy and accessible by providing a door-to-door shipping option for the convenience of Filipino professionals with busy schedules.

“Pagsusumikapan po ng PRC NCR sa suporta ng Central Office na maihatid ang NCR Shipping di lamang sa kalakhang Maynila, kundi maging sa ibayong dagat. Not only for PRC IDs, but also for other PRC documents,” said Watson.

(The PRC NCR, through the support of the Central Office, will do its best to bring the NCR Shipping not only in Metro Manila but also overseas. Not only for PRC IDs, but also for other PRC documents.)

On the other hand, the commission expressed that the call for the extension of the validity of PRC IDs from 3 years to 5 years is a most welcomed initiative in maintaining the professional standards in the country at a policy level.

PRC also welcomed the possibility of pioneering a licensure examination for practitioners in the media industry, such as, but not limited to journalists and editors towards professionalizing the communication sector. (JMP/PIA-NCR)
