ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – The pre-redemption activities for the Walang Gutom Program (WGP) is currently being conducted in various towns in the province of Iloilo, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region VI.
WGP aims to fight hunger and improve nutrition by helping household beneficiaries with Php3,000 worth of healthy food each month through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards.
In October last year, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. issued Executive Order No. 44 or the Walang Gutom 2027: The Food Stamp Program, as one of his administration’s flagship programs.
DSWD VI said as part of the preparation for the Period 12 (January 2025) Food Redemption Activities, a series of orientations is ongoing and being carried out with local government units (LGUs) from 42 municipalities, including the cities of Iloilo and Passi.
These activities, led by the WGP Regional Program Management Office, include the orientation and accreditation of retailers, scheduling of Food Redemption activities, and finalization of venues —critical steps in ensuring the seamless and effective implementation of the program in Iloilo province.
