Pres. Marcos, Jr. brings gifts, holiday cheer to Marillac Hills, Haven for Women

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. brought gifts and holiday cheer to young girls, women, the elderly, and persons with disability during a ceremonial gift-giving event on Monday, December 2, at Marillac Hills and the Haven for Women in Muntinlupa City.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local benefactors.

In his address, President Marcos expressed gratitude to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and acknowledged the ongoing support from the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan.

Maraming salamat sa ating DSWD Secretary, Secretary Rex Gatchalian, na sila ang namamahala dito sa ating Marillac Hills,” he said, recalling his long-standing visits to the center. (Many thanks to our DSWD Secretary, Secretary Rex Gatchalian, who are in charge of our Marillac Hills.)

Kami sa pamahalaan, titiyakin namin na ang lahat ng Pilipino ay may Merry Christmas ngayong 2024,” he added. (We in the government will ensure that all Filipinos have a Merry Christmas this year.)

The President, joined by Gatchalian, led the turnover of sacks of rice, along with food packs, medicines, vitamins, bags of toiletries, and even supplies for babies.

Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon and Representative Jaime Fresnedi also welcomed the President.

The President noted the festive atmosphere, mentioning the residents’ joyful performances. “Bawat punta ko rito sumasayaw kayo. Gumagaling ‘yung sayaw ninyo,” he added, encouraging the residents to continue honing their skills. (Every time I come here you dance. Your dance is getting better.)

Marcos shared his own holiday experiences, including the recent lighting of a large Christmas tree at Malacañang and the joy of awarding prizes for the best lanterns. He conveyed that the holiday spirit was palpable at Marillac Hills, saying, “Talagang naramdaman ko na ang Pasko!” (I really felt like Christmas.)

The President also emphasized the importance of ensuring that all Filipinos, especially children affected by disasters, feel the warmth of the Christmas season. “Kahit na tinamaan tayo ng kung ano-anong bagyo… titiyakin namin lahat ng Pilipino ay may Merry Christmas ngayong 2024,” he pledged, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting those in need.

As part of the celebration, residents showcased their talents through various performances, which the President appreciated, adding, “Kami naman ang pinatuwa ninyo.” (You made us happy.)

Wrapping up his message, Marcos extended his holiday wishes to everyone, saying, “Merry Christmas sa inyong lahat at Happy New Year pagdating ng New Year.”
