MANILA, (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally handed over government aid to beneficiaries of the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, on Wednesday, September 11.
The AKAP initiative aims to support minimum wage earners affected by rising inflation.
“We are here to continue to support and bring whatever help we can for those in need. We know how difficult your situation is,” President Marcos said during his speech.
The President emphasized the government’s commitment to monitoring the needs of Filipinos impacted by disasters.
“Rest assured that your national government, your provincial government, and our representatives in both districts are here to help,” he added.
The aid distribution was made possible through a whole-of-government approach, with the President commending various agencies for their collaboration and support.
“I hope that by Christmas, you will feel improvements in your situation. We are here to provide continuous assistance,” he said.
The event coincided with the 107th birthday of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., and the younger Marcos pledged to uphold his father’s legacy of aiding those in need.
On the same day, President Marcos also distributed AKAP assistance in Batac, Ilocos Norte.
A total of 16,500 beneficiaries in Ilocos Norte will receive P5,000 each, with 7,000 beneficiaries from District 1 and 9,500 from District 2. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
