ALICIA, Zamboanga Sibugay, July 21 (PIA) – The people of Alicia town witnessed a momentous occasion as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made his inaugural visit here. This marks the first-ever visit of PBBM in Region 9, adding to the significance of the day.
President Marcos Jr. arrived promptly at 9:20 AM to preside over the inauguration ceremony of the three core road projects under Improving Growth Corridors in Mindanao Road Sector Project (IGCMRSP).
The visit held special significance for the people of Alicia, who eagerly welcomed the President and his delegation with open arms. The warm reception was a testament to the strong bond between the residents and the highest office of the land.
The air was abuzz with joyous cheers and chants of “BBM! BBM!” as President Marcos Jr.’s motorcade made its way through the municipal gymnasium.
Community members of all ages, from children to elders, lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the esteemed leader, expressing their heartfelt appreciation.
The occasion also provided a platform for residents to express their gratitude for the significant development brought about by the road projects.
A native of Alicia, Tina Montaño expressed in local dialect, “nalipay kaayu mi nga naka visit si president diri sa among probinsya. Kaniadto kay kabatuan among lugar, karon kay nindot na. Gi-treasure jud namo siya, ug thankful pud kaayo mi sa iyahang project nga nahimo sa among lugar (“We are very happy that the President visited our province. Our area used to have rocky roads but now it has improved. We truly treasure his visit, and we are also very thankful for these projects),” she said.
During the ceremony, President Marcos Jr. was joined by guests, including DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Ann K. Hofer, Asian Development Bank-Philippine Country Office Director Pavit Ramachandran, DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, and Alicia Municipal Mayor Alvie B. Musa, Al-Hadj.
